ISLAMABAD – For the first time in history, SIM and Smart Cards to bemanufactured locally in Pakistan.

On the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Ministry ofInformation Technology is all set to manufacture SIM and smart cardslocally for the first time in history.

In this regard, the ministry has completed its homework and prepared thefinal design of local SIM cards after taking all relevant stakeholders onboard.

The said items were earlier imported from China and other countries. MoIThas acquired the technology to manufacture these cards in Pakistan, whichwould help reduce the imports bill of the telecom sector.——————————

The ministry has also directed the telcos to adhere to the qualitystandards and standardize prices for the consumers.
