DUBAI – New Zealand veteran Ross Taylor has been rewarded for having abrilliant ODI series against India which his team won by 3-0. He has nowclimbed to the fourth position in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batsmenleaving behind Faf du Plessis.
Taylor was at the forefront of the wins in the first couple of matchesscoring 109* and 73* while finishing with 194 runs to his name.
Meanwhile, India skipper *Virat Kohli*linkenduredone of his worst series for quite some time. Kohli, batting at three,couldn’t impose his authority in any of the matches and could only muster75 runs in three outings.
However, he has retained his top position with 869 rating points while hisdeputy Rohit Sharma has lost a few points for not being part of thethree-match rubber.
While Rohit has 855 points, Pakistan’s T20I captain (& soon to be ODIcaptain) Babar Azam is at the third place with 829 points. Ross Taylor isonly a solitary point behind Babar at the fourth position.Quinton de Kock climbs to the seventh position
South Africa skipper Quinton de Kock has also gained significant ratingpoints for his exceptional ODI series with the bat against England. Heamassed 187 runs in three matches scoring a century and a half-centuryopening the innings. In the process, the southpaw has trumped *KaneWilliamson*linkandJoe Root in the rankings and has 782 points to his name, reportedCricTracker.
The Kiwi skipper Williamson’s ratings were affected as he missed two out ofthree ODIs New Zealand played in the series. Even in the final game whichhe batted, the 29-year-old could only score 22 runs off 31 balls.
Joe Root wasn’t at his best against the Proteas mustering only 66 runs in acouple of outings which was the reason in sliding to the ninth place.
The Australia openers, David Warner and Aaron Finch are at the sixth andtenth position respectively and they will have a chance to better theirrankings on South Africa tour next month. De Kock will also be keen tocontinue his good run with the bat and climb even more in the rankings.
