Islamabad High Court gives directions to Ministry of Foreign Affairs over stranded Pakistani students in China

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Courtlink (IHClink) Tuesday directedMinistry of Foreign Affairs to review, within two weeks, the decision ofnot evacuating Pakistanilink citizens fromlink Chinalink in the wake ofcrononavirus outbreak.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that 23 countries including Bangladeshlink had evacuatedtheir citizens from linkChina link due tocoronavirus link askedfor taking steps to ensure safety of Pakistanis living there.

The representative fromlink Ministryof Foreign Affairs apprised the bench that only 23 countries wereevacuating their citizens, out of 194 countries, adding Bangladeshlink had alsowithdrawn its decision.

He said that neighboring country Indialink had broughtback its several citizens, however, eighty Indians were still in Chinalink.He informed the courtlink thata total of one thousands Pakistanis were in Wuhanlink city of Chinalink.

He said that governmentlink would decide thematter in benefit of students and the country.

The Chief Justicelink remarked thatthe court link didn’t wantthe government link totake any risk but the state should take the responsibility of its citizens.

He said the courtlink wouldn’tissue any order and added if the citizens couldn’t be brought back, thenthey must be kept in isolation after evacuation fromlink Wuhanlink.

He ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to review its decisionwithin twoweeks.
