ISLAMABAD: *Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi leaves for animportant economic diplomacy mission to Africa. *
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday left for Kenya on atwo-day visit to take part in “Engage Africa” conference as part thegovernment’s policy of economic diplomacy.
In a video message before departure to Kenya today, he said we are movingahead on economic diplomacy pursuing it as a principle in foreign policy.The foreign minister said the Foreign Office of Pakistan is organising“Engage Africa” Conference in Kenya to enhance trade and investment in theAfrican continent.
The minister said Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood will chair theconference and a delegation of about one hundred businessmen from Pakistanwill accompany him.
He said important personalities of the business community in Africancountries have also been invited to the conference with an aim to increasethe volume of trade and investment with the African countries. Shah MahmoodQureshi said he will call on the President of Kenya and also hold a meetingwith his Kenyan counterpart.
The foreign minister said he will make efforts to strengthen and expandPakistan’s relations not only with Kenya, but other African countries aswell.
The Ministry of Commerce would organise the Pakistan-Africa TradeDevelopment Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, on January 30-31.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the conference would befirst-of-its-kind, as over 200 delegates (officials and businessmen) from20 African countries, arranged by Pakistan Missions abroad, would begracing the occasion.
