ISLAMABAD: Pakistan makes a big technical offer to the Arab World countriesin the Middle East in the field of the science and technology.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said hiscountry’s expertise in the field of technology could benefit the Arabworld, especially if a special technical partnership is forged with theKingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“I would like closer cooperation with the Arab world in science andtechnology,” Fawad Chaudry in an interview with Arab News.link
He noted that while Pakistan and KSA already cooperate on a large scale,scientific cooperation has yet to be established. He said that Pakistan isthe world’s fourth-largest freelance software exporter, “so instead ofrelying on Europe and USA for routine software, and pay huge money forthat,” the Arab world should rather focus on Pakistan.
“We will be able to bring your requirements, frankly much cheaper thanwhat you are getting now, and the standard will be as good.” “The Arabworld can benefit immensely from Pakistan’s experience.”
He said he would like Saudi Arabia to invest in Pakistan’s educationsector. “We can create a high-tech scientific park in Pakistan and SaudiArabia.”
“We can bring huge technical assistance and Saudi Arabia can take care ofthe budgets. This technical cooperation of Pakistan will actually solvemany of Saudi Arabia’s technology problems,” he said.
Pakistan is engaged in multimillion-dollar worth projects under the IslamicDevelopment Bank’s (IsDB) Science, Technology and Innovation TransformFund, which aim to help Muslim countries find practical solutions to theirkey development challenges through the power of innovation.
