PML N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif faces another big setback

ISLAMABAD – PML N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif faces another big setbackfrom the federal government.

The Cabinet has decided to include the name of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz in the Exit Control List (ECL), mediahas reported.

The decision was taken during a meeting of Cabinet members under the chairof Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had recommended the inclusion ofMaryam Nawaz’s name in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case in the ECL, afterwhich the Cabinet approved the recommendation.

The NAB had recommended that Maryam Nawaz’s name be placed in the ECL inthe said case.

In its request, NAB had stated that Maryam Nawaz is an accused in ChaudhrySugar Mills case with her father Nawaz Sharif and investigations of moneylaundering are underway.

The accountability bureau stated that PML-N vice president’s name should beincluded in the ECL in as she might fly abroad.

On December 24, 2019, the Federal Cabinet had decided not to remove thename of Maryam Nawaz from the ECL.

In her petition, Maryam Nawaz pleaded that her father Nawaz Sharif’s healthdeteriorated and he was under medical treatment out of the country.
