Arabic word Inshallah officially made part of Germany’s most authoritative dictionary Duden

ISLAMABAD – The Arabic word ‘InshAllah’ has officially made it to theGermany’s most authoritative dictionary, the Duden.

According to *Sputnik International*link, the new entry isspelled as “*inschallah*link” in the dictionary. Itcurrently appears in its digital version, and there has been no word onwhether it will be published in print as well.

‘Inshallah’, as it is spelled in English, means ‘Allah willing’ or ‘ifAllah wills’ and is used by Muslims when speaking of a future event.

The Duden is the most authoritative and popular dictionary of Germanlanguage; it has long been the prescriptive handbook for German grammar andspelling – Germany’s Merriam-Webster of sorts. It’s been issued since 1880and is now in its 27th edition.

Although some social media users in Germany said this signified the naturaldevelopment of their language, others contended it actually represented theincreasing Islamization of Germany.
