ISLAMABAD – Over 1.2 crore Pakistanis rendered jobless due coronaviruspandemic crisis, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar has revealed.
He said on Saturday that the coronavirus pandemic has rendered 12 millionpeople jobless across Pakistan.
While addressing media in Multan, the Punjab governor lamented that thepeople are not taking the pandemic issue seriously. “Bad times are aroundthe corner,” he warned.
Sarwar said that if the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were notfollowed by people then the government will have no choice but to take‘hard decisions’ regarding mosques.
He said that in case of more patients, the hostels of universities will beturned into quarantine facilities.
President Dr Arif Alvi, along with the country’s ulema, earlier agreed upona 20-point formula to open up the mosques amid the coronavirus pandemic.Announcing the decision this week, the president called it a consensus ofthe Muslim community in Pakistan.
