Number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan along with death toll rises significantly

ISLAMABAD – Number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan along withdeath toll rises significantly.The number of confirmed coronavirus caseswitnessed a sharp increase and rose to 11,940 in Pakistan on Saturday,while the death tally stands at 253.

According to National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 785cases of coronavirus were reported while 16 people succumbed to the diseasein the last 24 hours.

As many as 2,755 patients have recovered from the disease, while 127 aresaid to be critical as country is still witnessing a consistent rise in theCOVID-19 cases.

As per details, 21 percent of the cases have foreign travel history while79 percent of the cases are reported to be locally transmitted.

Punjab

After sharp increase in the cases, the number of patients swelled to 5,046in the province, the most affected region in Pakistan. The provincereported 65 coronavirus (COVID-19) causalities.

A partial lockdown has been imposed across the province to stem the spreadof the infection.

The government has also launched Insaf Imdad Program to help poor segmentof society in the difficult times.

Sindh

The province has started easing lockdown restriction as it has allowed someindustries to resume operations.

The cases of infection have surged to 3,945 in the province. As many as 269people have recovered from the infection. The death toll has reached to 73in the province.

Balochistan

There are 656 confirmed cases while 161 patients have recuperated from theinfection so far. The province has reported eight deaths.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The confirmed cases have surged to 1,708 in the province. It is leadingother regions with more causalities as toll has surged to 85 in KPK.

AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan

There are 307 coronavirus cases in the GB while three patients including ayoung doctor have died due to the infection. As many as 195 people haverecovered from the infection.

There are 55 cases in AJK while 23 patients have recovered.

Islamabad

There are 223 cases in the capital city while three people have lost theirlives. Around 20 patients have recovered so far.
