ISLAMABAD – Pakistan government raises strong concerns over US sale ofsophisticated weapon system to India.
The spokesperson of Pakistan Foreign Office Aisha Farooqi has said Pakistanhad concerns over the defence deals between the US and India especially thesale of sophisticated weapon system to New Delhi.
This, she said, will further destabilize the already volatile region. “Wehave alerted the international community many times about India’saggressive designs not only towards Pakistan but also other countries inthe region.”
She said Pakistan had been the victim of state terrorism emanating from theeastern border. She said Pakistan has shared its concerns in this regardwith the international community.
Aisha Farooqui expressed grave concerns over the violence against Muslimsincluding desecration of mosques in New Delhi.
She said Pakistan’s leadership as well as the international community hadalso raised their concerns on the situation. She said the state oppressionthat the Kashmiri people had been suffering for decades at the hands ofIndian authorities has now found its way in the Indian capital.
The spokesperson said Pakistan had welcomed the mediation offer made by theUS President Donald Trump during his visit to India. She said the USPresident also lauded Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism during thevisit. She said the Trump’s remarks were a manifestation of upwardtrajectory in Pakistan-US relations. She said there was an increasingawareness in the world that resolution of Kashmir dispute is the key forpeace and stability in the region.
Aisha Farooqui said Pakistan welcomed the peace deal to be signed betweenthe US and Afghan Taliban tomorrow (February 29). She expressed theconfidence that this will pave the way for intra Afghan dialogue. She hopedthis historic opportunity will be seized by all the Afghan parties to takethe people of Afghanistan towards peace and stability.
The spokesperson said Pakistan has played a significant role infacilitating the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
Aisha Farooqui confirmed that the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping toPakistan was on the cards. She said both the sides are working on theschedule of the visit.
The spokesperson said Pakistan was a great partner of China. “We lookforward to the visit of the President of China to Pakistan this year. Bothsides are working on the schedules as per the convenience of ourleaderships,” she added.
Aisha Farooqui said the Chinese government was taking extraordinarymeasures to stem the spread of Coronavirus.
