ISLAMABAD – India gets a strong snub from the US Commission onInternational Religious Freedom.
US Commission on International Religious Freedom has strongly condemned thedeadly violence against Muslims in Indian capital New Delhi.
In a statement, the watchdog noted with grave concern that Indian policedid not intervene to protect Muslims from mob attacks in clear violation ofinternational human rights.
The Commission called for serious efforts by Indian government to protectMuslims and other minorities from brutal and unchecked violence.
Earlier, in its last year’s Annual Report, the US watchdog had classifiedIndia as a “Tier 2” country for engaging in and tolerating religiousfreedom violations.
