ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured that the government willprovide every possible cooperation for promotion of science and technology.
He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Monday during which the Ministryof Science and Technology gave a detailed briefing to him about importsubstitution and technology based products which could be used to bolsterthe country’s exports.
Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhary informed the PrimeMinister that his ministry has identified two hundred and fifty twoproducts including in chemicals, bio technology, textiles, base metals andplastic through which foreign exchange could be earned by enhancing theirproduction and quality.
In this regard, the ministry of science and technology is also formulatingthree, seven and ten year’s programs.
The Prime Minister was briefed about the future course of action for hightech industrial development. In the first phase, the Prime Minister wasinformed that sectors of herbal, food and medicines will be givenpriority.
The Prime Minister was also briefed about the progress on Jhelum IndustrialBiotechnology Park.
The Prime Minister appreciated the recommendations of the Minister forScience and Technology for increasing the technology based exports of thecountry. He also hailed the ministry’s efforts towards recovering stateowned land from illegal occupation.
