ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday has approved theappointment of Khalid Javed Khan as the new Attorney General of Pakistan.
The President approved the resignation of Anwar Mansoor.
According to details, PM Imran Khan has directed the Law Ministry toprepare a summary of Khalid Javed Khan’s appointment today, while thesummary will also be forwarded to President Arif Alavi on the same day.
On the other hand, the President approved the resignation of Anwar Mansoor.The President will appoint the new Attorney General on the direction of thePrime Minister.
It is pertinent to remember that the former AGP tendered his resignationafter Pakistan Bar Council asked to leave the position over hiscontroversial remarks against the Supreme Court judges during the hearingof Justice Qazi Faez Isa case.
Hailing from Karachi, Javed had earlier served as legal advisor to the AGPduring the second tenure of martyred Benazi Bhutto.
He got his law degree from London University with other law-related degreesfrom Oxford University and Harvard University.
