ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has been highlighted as the origin for half ofBritain’s imported Covid-19 cases as there are calls for stricterquarantine checks on people from ‘high-risk’ countries.
Reportedly, it is understood that half the incidents of imported infectionshave originated from Pakistan.
Cases in the country will double to 300,000 by the end of July.
This data from Public Health England showed 30 cases since June 4, 2020.
Pakistan is said to have reported 4,000 coronavirus cases a day. Thecountry has suffered a rise in cases facing a new spike since easing thelockdown.
Since March 1, 2020, 190 flights arrived from Pakistan to the UK.
According to The Telegraph, over 65,000 passengers travelled to Britain. Itis believed that most are British passport holders.
Allegedly, some of the people travelling from Pakistan to the UK have beengoing straight to the hospital upon arrival.
They have had to be placed in intensive care. Two flights from Pakistanhave been arriving in the UK every day.
In fact, Dubai air carrier, Emirates has suspended flights out of thehigh-risk country.
This decision came after 30 passengers tested positive for coronavirus on aflight to Hong Kong on June 22, 2020.
