Israeli soldiers attacked Hezbollah supporters with tear gas shells as theycelebrated the 21st anniversary of Israel’s withdrawal from southernLebanon, local media reported on Wednesday.
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), the Israeli soldiersintervened in a demonstration in the southern Lebanese town of Al Adeysebordering Israel on Tuesday, attempting to disperse it with tear gas shells.
Hezbollah supporters gathered along the border to mark the 21st anniversaryof Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000.
A large number of people arrived in the area in hundreds of vehicles,waving Palestine and Hezbollah flags.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah on Tuesday warnedthat if Israel continued its violations in occupied East Jerusalem, “aregional war could break out, which will result in the destruction of thiscountry [Israel].”
Delivering a speech on the 21st anniversary of the end of Israel’soccupation of southern Lebanon, Nasrallah in his address said: “You shouldbe aware that violating Al-Quds [Jerusalem] and Al-Aqsa Mosque is unlikeany other violation you practice.”
