Pakistani FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi arrives in New York to attend emergency session of UNGA

NEW YORK – Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Thursday reached New Yorkto attend the emergency session of the United Nations General Assembly inwake of the recent Israeli atrocities in Palestine.

Qureshi held consultations with the envoys of a number of Muslim countriesto adopt one stance at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) forPalestine. UNGA President Volkan Bozkir and the foreign ministers ofTurkey, Palestine, and Tunis were also present at the dinner.

During the emergency meeting of the United Nations General Assembly inconnection with the Palestine issue today, permanent representatives of theOIC countries will draw the attention of the international community to themassacre in Gaza.

He will also hold key meetings with President General Assembly and otherpersonalities. Qureshi is also scheduled to meet foreign ministers ofdifferent countries during his short stay in New York while he is alsoscheduled to address at the Pakistani embassy on the Palestinian issue.

The recent trip of the Foreign Minister to the UN is on the instructions ofPrime Minister Imran Khan who expressed unflinching and steady support tounarmed Palestinians against the Israeli relentless attacks.

On Monday, a resolution in support of Palestine and condemning Israeliaggression was unanimously adopted in the National Assembly. It underlinedPakistan’s support for a two-state solution, as enshrined in the relevantUNSC and UNGA resolutions.
