*ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on OverseasPakistanis Sayed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari has relinquished his Office toensure a free and impartial investigation into the Rawalpindi Ring Road(RRR) Project.*
In a series of tweets on Monday, Zulfikar Bukhari said that Prime MinisterImran Khan has always said that if a person has been named rightly orwrongly in any inquiry he should cease to hold any Public Office till hisname has been cleared of charges.
“Owing to the allegations in ongoing Ring Road inquiry I want to set thisexample by resigning from Office until my name is cleared up of anyallegations and media’s obnoxious lies,” he said.
Zulfi Bukhari reiterated that he has nothing to do with Ring Road or anyongoing Real Estate Project.
The Special Assistant said that the Ring Road inquiry should be done bycapable personnel, adding that he endorses a judicial inquiry.
“I’m here to stay in Pakistan and stand united with the Prime Minister andhis vision. I sacrificed my life Overseas to come and serve my Country, Iam ready to face any inquiry,” he said.
Last Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered a full-fledged inquiryinto the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) Project scam after which the Punjabgovernment decided to send the case to the Federal Investigation Agency(FIA) or the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for a thoroughinvestigation.
