*LAHORE – **Punjab government unveils plan for construction of small damsacross the province.*
*Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Tuesday approved for startinginitial work on four small dams in Koh-e-Suleman for conservation of thewater of hill torrents.*
CM Buzdar chaired a high level meeting on small dams construction inKoh-e-Suleman. On the occasion, he said that the building of small dams isnecessary to conserve and properly utilize the water. “The small dams willalso provide clean drinking water to the backward areas,” he added.
“The construction of small dams to conserve water is the need of time andthe government of Punjab mulling over various options for small damsschemes, he said.“Hundreds of thousands cusecs previous water at hill torrents ofKoh-e-Suleman goes in vain without utilization,” he added.
“A technical study has been initiated for construction of four small damsin the first phase,” Buzdar said. The provincial Secretary Irrigation alsobriefed the chief minister about key matters with regard to construction ofsmall dams.
