ISLAMABAD – Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (Retd)Javed Iqbal chaired a high-level meeting at NAB Headquarters and reviewedthe performance of NAB headquarters and all regional Bureau.
The meeting reviewed under trial cases in respected Accountability Courtsof the country and decided that the Operations and Prosecution Divisionswill jointly supervise and investigation officers and prosecutors in allregional bureaus of NAB would pursue the cases in coordination with lawafter collecting evidence, verified documents and in the light of witnessesstatements.
The meeting also reviewed improving the standard of conducting complaintverifications,inquiries, investigations and filing of references on thebasis of solid evidence as per law. It was decided to impart courses forcapacity building of Investigation Officers and prosecutors to enable themmore to meet modern day requirements as per law.
The meeting decided to further improve the functioning of the forensicScience laboratory so that the standard of inquiries and investigationscould be further improved on a scientific basis.
Chairman NAB directed to utilise all available resources for concluding themega corruption white collar cases on scientific basis so that the corruptelements could be punished.
He directed that the complaint verifications, inquiries and investigationsshould be taken to a logical conclusion by taking the benefit of thecollective wisdom of the Combined Investigation Team. Proper monitoring ofthe performance of NAB headquarters and all regional bureaus would beensured on the directives of the Chairman by ensuring persistent vigilancethe required legal assistance could be provided if required. There are morethan 1230 references under trial in different respected AccountabilityCourts of the country.
The relevant DGs should ensure that the cases should be pursued in aneffective way and make possible efforts for recovery of looted money fromcorrupt events and subsequently deposit in the national exchequer which isour national duty.
Chairman NAB said that NAB is a national institution making sincerecorruption elimination efforts. The performance of NAB has been lauded byreputed national and international institutes. The increase in receipt ofcomplaints as compared to last year’s shows enhanced confidence of peopleon Bureau.
He said NAB officers should utilise their energies on concluding investigations, inquiries on merit in a transparent way. He said that NABis a people friendly institute . All the people visiting NAB should bedealt with respect and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard.
