Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar hasexpressed satisfaction over improved economic situation of the country amidincreased foreign remittances.

In a tweet on Friday, he said strong remittance flows are helpingsignificantly with our external account.

The Minister said the biggest vulnerability of country’s economy, itsunsustainable high external debt, is being improved as a result of thisexcellent performance.

He said it is needed to sustain high remittance flows for achieving trueeconomic independence.

According to the latest figures of State Bank, foreign remittances flowreached to 2.34 billion dollars during last month which is 28.4 percenthigher to the same month of last year. This is sixth consecutive month thatrecorded over two billion dollars remittances.
