US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo separately met Afghan government andTaliban negotiators in Doha, and discussed the peace process and reductionin violence.
However, there was no announcement of any breakthrough in the talks aheadof Pompeo’s departure for Abu Dhabi.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Afghanistan’s High Council for NationalReconciliation, Abdullah Abdullah told AFP that the Afghan government andthe Taliban are very close to breaking a deadlock in talks.
