Pakistan summons senior Indian diplomat in Foreign Ministry

ISLAMABAD – A senior Indian diplomat was summoned to the Ministry ofForeign Affairs today (Thursday) to register Pakistan’s strong protest overceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line ofControl (LoC) on 11th November 2020, resulting in serious injuries to oneinnocent civilian, said an official press release.

Due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian occupation forcesin Rakhchikri Sector of the LoC, 26 year old Sagheer Ahmed s/o RasheedAhned, resident of Village Kirni, sustained serious injuries.

The Indian occupation forces along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB)have been continuously targeting civilian populated areas with artilleryfire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons. This year, India hascommitted 2660 ceasefire violations to date, resulting in 20 shahadats andserious injuries to 203 innocent civilians.

Condemning the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indianoccupation forces, it was underscored that such senseless acts are in clearviolation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, and are also against allestablished humanitarian norms and professional military conduct. Theseegregious violations of international law reflect consistent Indianattempts to escalate the situation along the LoC and are a threat toregional peace and security. It was added that by raising tensions alongthe LoC and the WB, India cannot divert attention from the grave humanrights situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).
