The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has accelerated work on a multi sectoralplan to alleviate poverty and generate employment opportunities for peopleespecially in rural areas through promotion of domestic tourism in theprovince.
Talking to Associate Press of Pakistan today (Sunday), the spokesman forSports, Tourism, Archeology and Youth Affairs Department, Latifur Rehmansaid Federal and KP Governments have joined hands to explore hidden tourismpotential of the province and present it before the world.
He said promotion of tourism is the cornerstone of KP Government’s policyand special initiatives have been taken in this regard.
The spokeman said under comprehensive plan, work on renovation andrefurbishment of historic buildings and tunnels has been expedited topromote domestic tourism imperative for alleviation of poverty.

Latifur Rehman said around 2.681 million tourists visited KP during August13, 2020 to September 30, 2020.
He said work is in progress on establishment of tourism facilitationcentres and rest areas in Abbottabad, Swat and Mansehra.
