In a first, Pakistan government establishes “National Emergency Helpline”

Karachi – In wake of the Motorway Rape incident, the government has decidedto establish a National Emergency Helpline to provide immediate help to thepeople in case of emergency like situation.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the PM Delivery Unit (PMDU) toestablish the national helpline in two months’ time.

A tweet by Information Ministry on Tuesday stated, “Big decision by PrimeMinister Imran Khan in wake of Motorway incident. Government decides toestablish a national emergency helpline. Prime Minister Imran Khan has madethe PM Delivery Unit responsible for this important task.”

The entire emergency help line numbers will be linked to the new system.The Latest technology will be used in this system and the cooperation ofall the cellular companies will also be sought in this regard.

The National Emergency Help Line will be a toll free number. The PM officesaid that legislation will also be carried out in consultation with theprovinces to make the system more effective.
