Pakistani PM Imran Khan’s special message for the Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has thanked Turkish President Recep TayyipErdogan for raising the issue of Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) at theUnited Nations General Assembly.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the PM shared the Turkish president’s speech andsaid that he is deeply appreciative of him once again raising his voice forthe Kashmiri people.

“Turkey’s unwavering support remains a source of strength for the Kashmirisin their legitimate struggle for self-determination,” the PM tweeted.

In his address on Tuesday, Erdogan said that the Kashmir conflict which isalso key to the stability and peace South Asia is still a burning issue. Hecontinued that steps taken following the abolition of the special status ofIoK further complicated the problem.

“We are in favour of solving this issue through dialogue, within theframework of the United Nations resolutions and especially in line with theexpectations of the people of Kashmir,” the president said.

Following his speech, India’s Permanent Representative to the UnitedNations, TS Tirumurti took to Twitter and said that the Turkish president’sspeech constitutes ‘gross interference in India’s internal affairs and arecompletely unacceptable’.
