COAS General Qamar Bajwa and DG ISI clarification

*ISLAMABAD – Military leadership insists on keeping army away frompolitical matters and clarified that Pakistan Army has nothing directly orindirectly to do with any political activity in the country on Monday.*

This was stated by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa andDirector-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI) Lieutenant GeneralFaiz Hameed during a meeting with parliamentary leaders last week anddiscussed administrative affairs of Gilgit-Baltistan.

During the meeting, the military leadership said that the army willcontinue to help civil administration, whenever it is needed and stressedto keep the army away from political matters.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the opposition’s All PartiesConference (APC) was an attempt to defame the state institutions. He saidthat Pakistan armed forces are a guarantee of national security.

“The PML-N has once again promoted the Indian agenda. It is part of Indianconspiracy to defame Pak Army before the United Nations meeting,” he added.

The prime minister said that Nawaz Sharif had always weakened theinstitutions after getting the power. “Nawaz Sharif forget about therigging done in his favour,” he added.

Yesterday, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto announced to launch the protestmovement from today. Addressing the All Parties Conference, he said thatthe days of the government had been numbered. “We all utilize alldemocratic options, including protest and no-confidence move,” he declared.
