LAHORE – A fake twitter account of Inspector General (IG) Punjab InamGhani has been spreading misinformation on social media regarding therecent Motorway rape incident.
After the incident was reported and a national outcry initiated, IG PunjabInam Ghani said that all possible resources would be utilized and theperpetrators of the heinous crime would be arrested soon.
Meanwhile, a fake account in the name of Inspector General Punjab InamMemon tweeted that a big development has been made in the investigation ofthe motorway rape incident. It wrongly stated that two people, who had usedthe victim’s ATM card, have been arrested.
The tweet further said that the suspects tried to transact cash from an ATMand after their arrest, their DNA samples were taken and now the resultsare awaited.

IG Punjab Inam Ghani clarified to the media said that no such progress hasbeen made in the case, saying that someone who has created a fake accountin his name is spreading misinformation.
