Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday joined his counterpartsfrom the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin besides heldbilateral talks with Tajikistan Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Muhriddin.
Foreign Minister Qureshi arrived in Moscow to attend the two-day meeting ofthe SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (SCO-CFM). The invitation to theforeign minister to attend the SCO-CFM was extended by Russian ForeignMinister Sergei Lavrov, who would chair the meeting.
Foreign Minister Qureshi also held a meeting with his Tajik counterpart onthe sidelines of the SCO-CFM and discussed with him the bilateralrelations, regional situation and other important global issues.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction over the developmentof bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to furtherstrengthen it in the coming days, said a statement issued by the ForeignOffice.
They appreciated the close cooperation between the two countries at themultilateral fora, including the SCO, which manifested the uniformity ofviews between the two countries on regional and international issues ofmutual concern.
The statement added that both the foreign ministers resolved to focus onincreasing bilateral trade, connectivity and people-to-people contacts inline with the vision of the leaderships of the two countries.
