Top Chinese official makes bombshell revelation upon India over Chinese territory claims

BEIJING: China on Monday said that it had never recognised the “so-calledArunachal Pradesh, illegally occupied on the Chinese territory”.

Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Zhao Lijian, during his regularbriefing, said that Beijing’s position on the eastern section of theChina-India boundary and China’s Southern Tibet was “consistent and clear”.

Responding to a question about the five civilians who went missing fromArunachal Pradesh days ago, he said: “Regarding the specifics youmentioned, I am not aware of it now.”

The Chinese and Indian soldiers recently engaged in the most serious borderclashes since they fought a war in 1962, leaving as many as 20 Indiansoldiers dead during the fight.

Beijing had blamed New Delhi for the incidents, calling the actions byIndian border troops “infringing and provocative”.

The disputed border covers nearly 3,500 kilometers (2,175 miles) offrontier that the two countries call the Line of Actual Control and thatstretches from Ladakh in the north to the Indian state of Sikkim in thenortheast.

The two countries have been trying to settle their border dispute since theearly 1990s without success.
