In Myanmar, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint andother senior officials from the ruling party have been detained by themilitary.
The Myanmar military television has also declared a state of emergency inthe country for one year.
Meanwhile, the United States has said it opposes any attempt to alter theoutcome of recent elections or impede Myanmar’s democratic transition.
