In a first, Pakistan government makes contributions to the UN Peacekeeping Fund

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has announced a token contribution of 25,000 dollarsto the Secretary General’s Peacebuilding Fund, Foreign Minister ShahMahmood Qureshi said Wednesday.

Speaking in virtual High-Level Replenishment Conference for UN SecretaryGeneral’s Peacebuilding Fund, Qureshi underscored Pakistan’s longstandingpolitical, human and financial commitment to United Nation’s endeavors inpeacekeeping and peacebuilding.

Foreign Minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralcooperation for preserving peace, preventing conflict, and realising theSustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He added that Pakistan as a major troop and police-contributing country,took pride in its rich UN peacekeeping history.

Pakistani peacekeepers have represented the blue flag in 46 UN Missionsover the last 6 decades across four continents of the world, he maintained.
