Lahore administration carried out operation against illegal Khokhar Palace in Johar Town worth Rs 1.5 billion

LAHORE – The district administration on Sunday carried out an operationagainst illegally constructed Khokhar Palace in Johar Town area of Lahore.

In Johar Town, a heavy contingent of police was present along with theoperation administration against the illegally constructed Khokhar Palace.The entire area was cordoned off. The additional deputy commissionerrevenue (ADCR) Lahore and SSP Operations monitored the anti-encroachmentoperation.

During the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) operation, the back door andwall of Khokhar Palace and the house of Tahir Javed – nephew of SaifulMalook Khokhar – were demolished. 13 shops and several temporary huts havebeen demolished by the use of heavy machinery.

It was also reported that the government retrieved 38 kanals of state landallegedly illegally occupied by PML-N’s Khokhar brothers. It added that thevalue of the retrieved land is estimated at around Rs1.5 billion.

It is pertinent to mention here that the district administration statedthat the Khokhar brothers had fraudulently encroached upon the land andwere served notices prior to the operation. They also claimed that out of177 kanals, only 131 kanals are owned by Saiful Malook Khokhar andremaining land is illegally occupied.

Earlier in December last year, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) haspostponed operation against illegal wall of Khokhar Palace after facingresistance to avoid untoward incident.

The LDA has registered a case against Khokhar brothers for intervening inthe demolition of the Khokhar Palace. According to the FIR registered atNawab Town police station, Khokhar Palace was constructed after illegallyoccupying the lands of people.
