Pakistan makes an appeal to the UN Chief against India

Pakistan has urged UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to use his goodoffices to ask India to release Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, whois languishing in New Delhi’s Tihar jail.

In a letter to UN chief, Pakistan’ Permanent Representative to UnitedNations, Munir Akram also enclosed an appeal from Ms. Maashal Malik for therelease of her husband, who is in poor health.

Munir Akram said persecution of political leaders resisting Indianoccupation under its draconian emergency powers, laws and mechanismswithout due process and safeguards are gross violations of theirfundamental human rights.
