Chief of the Pakistan Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan NIAZI,who paid an official five-day visit to Ankara during December 1-5, 2020upon the invitation of the Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces AdmiralAdnan ÖZBAL visited the İstanbul Naval Shipyard Command and ASFAT’sİstanbul Naval Shipyard Office on December 3rd where he found opportunityto met with İstanbul Naval Shipyard Commander Rear Admiral (LH) ErdinçYETKİN and ASFAT General Manager and CEO Esad AKGÜN and get briefing on thecurrent status of the ongoing construction of the first corvette of theJINNAH Class Corvette Project.
Before his visit to İstanbul Naval Shipyard, on December 3rd CNS AdmiralNIAZI also called on Commander of Turkish Fleet Admiral Ercument TATLIOĞLUat Fleet Headquarters, in Gölcük Naval Base, and visited Gölcük NavalShipyard where he was briefed on REIS Class Submarine Project by GölcükNaval Shipyard Commander Rear Admiral (LH) Mustafa SAYGILI.
Vice Admiral NIAZI was promoted to the rank of Admiral on September 30,2020 and at the same day he was appointed as Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS,Pakistan Naval Forces Commander) by Pakistan President Dr. Arif ALVI. CNSAdmiral NIAZI succeeded Admiral Zafar MAHMOOD who relinquished the Commandof Pakistan Navy with a ceremony held on October 7, 2020 at PNS Zafar.Turkey is one of the fist countries that CNS Admiral NIAZI paid an officialvisit following his appointment to the Chief of Pakistan Naval Staff inOctober 2020.
Within the scope of his official visit on December 2nd, Pakistan CNSAdmiral NIAZI welcomed by his Turkish counterpart Admiral Adnan ÖZBAL atthe Turkish Naval Forces Headquarters in Ankara. During a meeting, both thedignitaries discussed the matters of naval collaboration and mutualinterest aimed at further enhancing ties between the navies of twobrotherly countries. Pakistan CNS Admiral NIAZI was also givencomprehensive briefing regarding Turkish Naval Forces. Pakistan CNS AdmiralNIAZI officially invited Turkish naval Forces to participate AMAN 2021Naval Exercise that set to be held in waters near Karachi in February 2021.At the Turkish Naval Forces Headquarters, Admiral NIAZI was presented guardof honour and subsequently conferred with “Legion of Merit of the TurkishArmed Forces” by Turkish Naval Forces Commander Admiral ÖZBAL in animpressive ceremony.
