ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given Ministerfor Water Resources Faisal Vawda last chance to submit his response byFebruary 9 in the ineligibility case.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja headed a five-membercommission that heard the case and said in his remarks that the ECP willnot get under pressure by anyone regardless of their status.
Faisal Vawda’s counsel objected that it is not within the ECP’sjurisdiction to hear the petitions lodged against his client. The ministerwas not a US national at the time of submitting his nomination papers, andwas a dual national before that, he argued.
