Islamabad: The government has decided to increase electricity tariffs justthree days after it hiked petrol price, amid spiraling inflation.
According to details, the government has decided to increase electricityrates by an average Rs. 2 per unit from next month.
The Ministry of Energy, Power Division has prepared a summary in thisregard which will be forwarded to Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) andcabinet for approval.
Reportedly, the decision has been taken after pressure from InternationalMonetary Fund (IMF) to increase electricity tariffs.
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), too, had approvedhiking electricity rates from Rs. 13.35 to Rs. 15.35.
