Three countries express interest in mega Ravi City Project near Lahore

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan was on Thursday informed that withlocal and foreign investors expressing interest in the Ravi City project,agreements with renowned construction sector investment companies from theUnited Arab Emirates (UAE), China and Turkey had reached the final stages.

He was presiding over a review meeting about progress on the projects ofRavi Urban Development and Central Business District in Lahore and therelocation of Walton airport.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz, NayaPakistan Housing Authority Chairman Lt Gen (R) Anwar Ali Haider, RaviRiverfront Urban Development Authority Chairman Rashid Aziz and officersconcerned were in attendance.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Punjab Dr. Salman Shah and Special Assistantto the Chief Minister Punjab Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan also attended themeeting through video-link.

The meeting was apprised of the proposed legislation regardingenvironmental protection of the Ravi City project.

The meeting was briefed in detail about the significant progress made bythe three groups formed regarding the procurement, development and zoningof land for the project.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the deep interest ofrenowned international investment companies in the Ravi City project andprogress on agreements in that respect.

He said the magnificent Ravi City project would not only create employmentopportunities but also provide people with the residential facilities ofinternational standards.

The meeting was briefed about the initial progress as well as the legal andadministrative aspects regarding the Central Business District project inLahore and relocation of the Walton Airport.

The prime minister directed that in view of the socioeconomic importance ofthe Central Business District project and relocation of the Walton Airport,the hurdles should be removed as early as possible as per legalrequirements.
