Pakistani PM Imran Khan important statement on resumption of Pakistan India talks

Prime Minister Imran Khan said, on Friday, that Pak-India ties could not behomogenised until Kashmir is given the right of self-determination.

The PM said this while presiding over a meeting in Islamabad. The meetingagreed on the decision not to resume any trade with India.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other officials of the Ministryof Foreign Affairs attended the meeting. The Foreign Ministry also briefedthe meeting on proposals for trade with India.

Sources said that the meeting while agreeing on a decision not to resumetrade with arch-rival India said that the trade cannot be resumed until NewDelhi reviews its 2019 move to revoke the disputed Kashmir region’s specialstatus.

PM Imran Khan said that our position in principle is that there will be notrade with India without resolving the Kashmir issue, adding that it wouldsend the wrong impression that we ignored Kashmir and start trade withIndia.

“Relations with India cannot be normalized without giving Kashmir the rightto self-determination,” he added.
