New Motorway project approved in Punjab

The 10th Board of Directors of the Public-Private Partnership Authority(PPPA) met in Islamabad under the chairmanship of the Federal Minister forPlanning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar.

The meeting reviewed the working paper and presentation of the SialkotKharian Motorway Project of the National Highway Authority (69 km long 04lanes) proposed on the basis of build, operate and transfer under thePublic-Private Partnership Program of the Federal Government.

Planning Minister Asad Omar said the successful implementation of theproject would strengthen the national public-private partnership programand pave the way for more private partnership transactions in the future.

He directed the NHA and P3A to continue their cooperation to make theproject a success.

Asad Umar said that there is ample potential to move ahead inpublic-private partnership projects which the government should takeadvantage of. After detailed discussions, the Board approved the SialkotKharian Motorway project and also approved the application for commercial,financial feasibility study, transaction procedures and proposal package.
