The prime minister’s special advisor on National Security Moeed Yusuf onThursday denied reports of him being tipped as High Commissioner to India.
Issuing a statement on Twitter, the aide said the report was “totally madeup and baseless.”
Earlier, a newspaper report had suggested that there were chances ofYusuf’s appointment as High Commissioner to India as both countries haveshown positive signs of reconciliation during the past few days.
The report had stated that a “non-career” diplomat was likely to be posted,adding that Yusuf could become the first to be posted in New Delhi.
Yusuf was appointed the PM’s aide on national security in December 2019. Hewas formerly the associate vice president of the Asia centre at the USInstitute of Peace in Washington DC.

He holds a Masters in international relations and a PhD in politicalscience from Boston University.
In 2007, Yusuf co-founded Strategic and Economic Policy Research, a privatesector consultancy firm in Pakistan.
