The Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday rejected thedisqualification petition against Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat.
According to the details, a four-member commission headed by Punjab memberconducted the hearing.
The ECP dismissed Muhammad Aslam’s petition as inadmissible. The petitionertook the position that Raja Basharat had given a false affidavit along withthe nomination papers.
On which Punjab Member remarked that, “It took you three years to realizehis affidavit is false?”
Muhammad Aslam said that the unsigned affidavit is of no importance in theeyes of the law. He referred to the Supreme Court order of declaring theaffidavit as an important component of nomination papers.
The petition filed in the Election Commission said that the top electoralbody should suspend the victory notification of Raja Basharat by declaringthe nomination papers as ‘incomplete.’
