ECP takes important decision against Yusuf Raza Gillani over PTI petition

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected thepetition seeking a stay on the victory notification of former premierYousuf Raza Gilani in senate polls.

According to details, the victory of Yousaf Gillani was challenged byPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

During the hearing of video scandal of Yousuf Raza Gillani’s son Ali HaiderGilani, PTI lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar, Parliamentary Leader for RailwaysFarrukh Habib and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Kanwal Shauzab appearedbefore ECP and recorded their statements.

Speaking during proceedings, PTI’s lawyer Ali Zafar claimed that oppositioncarried out rigging in senate elections through money and party tickets andevidence of that rigging was found a day before the polls.

In response to that, the member of ECP asked Barrister Ali Zafar aboutmaking those who were offered money as party in the case over to which hereplied in negative but told ECP member that the court can call them aswitnesses.

“The one who takes a bribe and the one who gives it, both are accused,”Punjab member said.

The top electoral body directed to include all those who took money andthose who as a respondents in the petition.

Last week, a video of Ali Haider Gillani went viral in which he was seenadvising legislators on how to waste his vote in the Senate polls.
