The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has decided to reconsiderits decision to reopen the school due to a resurgence of coronavirus cases.
According to the state-run news agency APP, a meeting of the NCOC was heldunder the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar andNational Coordinator of the National Command and Operations Center Lt GenHamood Uz Zaman Khan in which the provincial representatives participatedthrough video link.
The meeting decided to review the end of the lockdown in the second week ofApril.
The NCOC will review ways to reopen schools on Tuesday, March 9, in lightof the growing number of Corona cases.
The meeting also considered withdrawing the decision to reopen celebrationsin cinemas, wedding halls and restaurants.
The meeting discussed the situation of increasing corona cases in theprovinces and related measures, progress on vaccination and nationalvaccine strategy.
The NCOC reviewed the growing number of positive cases of corona across thecountry and directed the provincial administration to ensure strictimplementation of safety measures at the grassroots level.
It may be recalled that on February 25, Federal Minister for EducationShafqat Mahmood had announced that from March 1, all schools would returnto normal classes five days a week.
In his tweets on micro-blogging site Twitter, “Important announcement. Allschools will go back to regular 5-day classes from Monday, March 1.Restrictions imposed in some major cities on schools to conduct staggeredclasses was only till Feb 28.”
