PM Imran Khan performed ground breaking of Central Business District in Lahore worth Rs 6,000 billions

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan performed the groundbreaking ofCentral Business District in Lahore on Friday.

Addressing a ceremony on the occasion, the Prime Minister said this projectwill serve as a business hub that will help in wealth generation.

Imran Khan was confident that this project will help generate six thousandbillion rupees. In the first phase, he said the project will generate 1300billion rupees and the federal government will get two hundred and fiftybillion rupees in taxes.

The prime minister stressed that wealth generation projects are importantto strengthen the economy enabling it to return the loans. He regrettedthat the economy was mismanaged in the previous two governments. He saidwe inherited difficult economic situation. He however expressedsatisfaction that the current account surplus remained surplus during thefirst six months of current fiscal year. He said our textile exports arealso witnessing increase and new industries are being set up in the country.

Referring to Naya Pakistan Housing Project, the premier said this willprovide affordable houses to the salaried class and the labourers. He saidPakistan and Qatar have signed a new LNG import agreement for ten years. Hesaid it took the government three years to negotiate this agreement whichwill help save three hundred million dollars annually.

Earlier, PM Imran Khan will pay a one-day visit to Lahore today (Friday)where he will chair sessions at Chief Minister House besides holdingmeetings with the provincial lawmakers.

The premier will hold separate meetings with the Punjab governor and chiefministers. He is also scheduled to meet the members of the provincialassembly (MPAs) during his visit.

Imran Khan will be briefed over the administrative and other matters of thePunjab government, whereas, he will issue important instructions in themeetings. A briefing will also be given to the premier to establish a megabusiness centre at the place of Walton Airport.

The premier’s visit is scheduled ahead of the Senate elections 2021 to beheld on March 3. The PM will also lay foundation stone of central businessdistrict project in Walton.
