Pakistan PM offers multi mullion dollars credit line to Srilanka

Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a grant of Rs. 52 million for thedevelopment of sports in Sri Lanka, as per an announcement on Twitter bythe Sri Lankan Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Namal Rajapaksa.

Thankful to HE Imran Khan for allocating a fund of 52 million PKR towardthe development of sport and sporting infrastructure in Sri Lanka, alongwith a youth exchange program to further develop social and cultural ties.

The announcement came during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s two-day maidenvisit to Sri Lanka where he interacted with the Sri Lankan leadership.

Apart from the assurance of financial aid, the two countries have inkedmultiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation in the fieldsof tourism, investment, education, and technology.

In this regard, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistanhas decided to award full scholarships to 100 students from Sri Lanka inthe top medical institutes of the country. His announcement came on thefinal day of the two-day visit.——————————

Minister Qureshi also highlighted the defense and security cooperationbetween the two countries, saying that defeating terrorism is equallyimportant for both Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

“Pakistan has offered Sri Lanka a credit line of $15 million in thisregard,” he said.

Thanking Prime Minister Khan for his generous offers, the Sri LankanForeign Minister said that Imran Khan’s visit will strengthen thecountries’ bilateral ties and cooperation.
