According to the Pakistani Embassy in Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro is theworld’s unique standalone mountain.
The Umbwe route has a reputation of being the most challenging route tosummit Mount Kilimanjaro due to its steep ascent.
Approaching from the south, the Umbwe route is a short and vertical climb. After reaching Barranco camp, the trail turns west before summiting theUhuru Peak (5895 metres) from Arrow Glacier camp. It does not provide thegradual stages for acclimatization. The Umbwe route is therefore attemptedmostly by very experienced trekkerslinkonlywho are confident in their stamina to adjust to the fast rising altitude. The descent is made via the Mweka route.
