Apple has launched a new battery replacement program for older MacBook Pros(2016 and 2017) for batteries that don’t charge past 1%. This replacementprogram will be completely free and customers will have to contact officialApple support to claim it.
You can either bring in your machine to a local Apple Authorized ServiceProvider or give Apple a call for guidance. However, keep in mind that thecompany is facing high demand so you may not be able to receive serviceright away.
According to Apple, the aforementioned battery issue is affecting “a verysmall number of customers”. If you happen to be one of the unlucky MacBookPro owners, you will see a “Service Recommended” message when checking thebattery health status. Apple says that if the battery status is “Normal”,then the battery is not affected by the issue.
Once you contact Apple support, the company will examine your laptop toverify if it is eligible for the free battery replacement program or not.
