The Punjab Police has established special investigation units at all thepolice stations across the province in compliance with the directives ofthe Inspector General Police, Inam Ghani. Additionally, the City PoliceOfficer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Ehsan Younas, has appointed investigation staffto all the police stations of Rawalpindi.——————————
This development is aimed at improving the service delivery andinvestigation standards of the police force. Accordingly, 750 officers havebeen dispatched in different categories to the police stations to probe the30,000 yearly crimes (of 2020) with approximately 50 cases perinvestigation officer in a year.
The CPO has designated 80 competent Investigation Officers (IOs) under theages of 45 to deal with around 3,500 crimes against persons, 270 IOs toinvestigate 13000 crimes against properties, and 45 IOs to probe financialcrimes in the province.——————————

Under the orders of the IGP, 38 officers have been posted to the HomicideUnit and 50 officers are working in the Narcotics Unit. Additionally, 275officers have been posted for general operation duty/Local & Special Lawsto 30 police stations in Rawalpindi.
The initiative began on 1 February and will be carried out after threemonths in May.
