FIR lodged against Imaan Mazari over sedition charges

ISLAMABAD – Law enforcers in the country’s federal capital have lodged acase under sedition charges against the daughter of Pakistan’s human rightsminister Imaan Mazari as well as several students who participated in aprotest this week.

Reports in local media said Imaan Mazari and Pashtun nationalist politicianand lawmaker Mohsin Dawar attended a protest along with Baloch students atNational Press Club on March 1.

The agitating students were reportedly baton-charged by cops for allegedlychanting slogans against the state and the country’s armed forces.

Police officials told local news outlets that the participants flocked toprotest against the forced disappearance of Baloch students while theychanted provocative slogans against the state institutions.

Imaan was earlier embroiled into another controversy with her comments onPakistan Day parade preparations. Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazarislammed her daughter for launching a “personal attack” on the first ladyand described it as “shameful” as the girl remained in news for many awfulreasons.
