US Air Force planes carried out nuclear weapons exercise against Russia: Report

Russia’s defense chief claimed on Tuesday that US Air Force planes carriedout exercises imitating the use of nuclear weapons against the country.

“This month, during the US Strategic Forces Global Thunder exercise, 10strategic bombers practiced the option of using nuclear weapons againstRussia almost simultaneously from the western and eastern directions,” saidDefense Minister Sergey Shoygu at a meeting with his Chinese counterpartWei Fenghe via video conference,

Shoygu said US strategic aviation forces have been increasing the number ofits flights near the Russian border, and last month, an American bomberplane carried out about 30 flights at a proximity of 20 kilometers (12.4miles) from the country.

Amid conditions of “growing geopolitical turbulence” Russia-China militarycooperation has new significance, he added.

“China and Russia have been strategic partners for many years. Today, inthe conditions of increasing geopolitical turbulence and increasingconflict potential in different parts of the world, the development of ourcooperation is especially relevant,” he said.

Shoygu also praised joint Russian-Chinese military exercises and patrols inthe Pacific Ocean.

For his part, Wei said Beijing is aware of the “military threats, pressure, and deterrence from the United States against the Russian Federation.”

“The US is also taking such actions against China … Facing insanedeterrence and pressure from the United States, China and Russia are unitedtogether like a great mountain,” he said, adding that the friendshipbetween the two countries was “unbreakable.”

He added that Moscow and Beijing “together oppose the hegemony of theUnited States, oppose the fake democratic regime of the United States andfake multiculturalism, as well as manifestations of the Cold War in a newform.”

At the end of the meeting, the two ministers signed a roadmap for militarycooperation.

The signed documents require increased cooperation between the armed forcesof the two countries via strategic military exercises and joint patrols.
